SSJ4 was the only thing I personally liked, but it completely failed when Vegeta could get SSJ4 without ''special help.''

Toei = Goku fanboys

Why all the hate? Simpru.
1. SS4 Made Goku, Vegeta, and Gogeta into furries.
2. Uub didnt do jack *****.
3. Gohan was useless as always
4. Vegeta never reached SS3
5. The animation sucked
6. The music sucked. No Faulconer?! C'mon maaaine!
7. Pan.
8. What? That's all I have to say on the matter.
9. Overpowering.
10. When the viallins escape from HFIL, which looks terrible in GT, we see Cooler. No Broly? And all of a sudden, the movies are cannon now?
11. The SS2 transformations were lacking and hardly distinguishable from SS1.
12. Goku a kid again? Why?!
13. It wasn't more like Z/
14. When Uub and Buu fused, I expected Uub to become more violent and mad, much like Kid Buu or something.

SSJ4 Gogeta failed on many levels for me. It didn't even remind me of Gogeta. The color mesh sucked.

Toei had an entire saga for a non canon character (Garlic Jr.) so there's you answer as to why Cooler is in Hell. Movies (the ones that are logical in the timeline) are canon to the anime, and DBGT is based off of the Toei Plothole DBZ anime.

And I don't know why Oob would go crazy when he fused with Good Boo. Good Boo had all his rage removed, and Oob was a ''good guy'' by Goku's wish.

Dragon Ball and GT were great. Z was terrible because everybody else got in on the action when it was Goku's show to begin with.

LOL, that's the single most arrogant comment I've ever heard you say on here.

Are you sure you don't work for Toei?

Pookie Powa!

I think Goku got enough screen time in DBZ. Dragonball Z is the reason why there are so many good characters that people like.

Dragonball Z was supposed to be Gohan's era not Goku's. It's what Toriyama said himself.

It would make sense because Goku's era was Dragonball.

If I worked for Toei, I would be defending GT more often, do you think?

Well, you do have a GT avatar, the rest is pretty self explanatory.

Dragonball was incredibly heavily focused on Goku. Possibly moreso than GT. Goku went through pretty much the entire RRA arc by himself, with only Bulma and Krillin for a short while (And they did nothing), he was always getting to the finals of every tournament, he was pretty much the only character to be able to do anything at any point.

Jackie Chun won the 21st Budokai, Yamcha beat Invisible man and Yajirobe beat Cymbal. That's about the only important things people who weren't Goku did in DB (Not counting villains obviously).

GT at least had Goku, Trunks and Pan all doing something during the earlier episodes, and Pan doing stuff in the shadow dragon eps too. And added Vegeta towards the end being helpful. Not in dragonball though, if there was a villain in DB then Goku was the only person who would ever be allowed to even touch him. If it's a minor villain then they might let someone other than Goku do something, but usually not.

I'm not saying I like GT for all the Goku focus, but to say GT focuses too much on Goku and the original Dragon ball doesn't is just being bias.
I think there's a few reasons why the overemphasis on Goku is a factor in GT, but not so much in Dragonball.

1) Goku, as a character, was simply more interesting and likable in DB than he was in DBGT. In DB, Goku had a much better humor element to him, and wasn't really a typical superhero personality-wise. Throughout Z, he became more serious and more like a typical "good guy" hero. However, this is balanced out in Z by the interactions he has with other characters, like Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan. Then we get to GT, and we mostly lose the interactions between Goku-Piccolo, Vegeta-Goku, Goku-Gohan, as well Vegeta-Piccollo, Piccolo-Gohan, etc. So we're left with a character who was adapted to interact with others (as opposed to a solo show type character) like he did in Z, but in a DB-ish setting where he's the main attraction of the show again. Except now, his character is not really suited for that type of role anymore. By GT, he'd lost a lot of his interesting character traits, and then GT sort of highlights this by putting the spotlight on him so much.

2) In DB, the expectation is that the show will be focused on Goku because, well, the show IS always focused on Goku. In DBZ, they increased the character depth and screen time of non-Goku characters substantially. So the fans now want to see other characters that they've become fans of during Z. Yet in GT, the fans feel cheated because the screen is always on Goku. When they go back and watch DB though, they don't feel cheated because the expectation isn't that the screen will be on Piccolo, Vegeta, etc. because they haven't been introduced yet. Expectation plays a large part in how your going to react to the show.

3) While GT may have had similar amount of people around Goku in DB, or even possibly more, the primary GT supporting characters simply weren't interesting. Pan is one of least-liked characters in the DBZ trilogy, and she gets the second most screen time in the show (I think?). Giru? I cant even fathom why he was added in the first place. Even Trunks wasn't as good in GT.

I think a lot of the problem with the "main" supporting characters in GT (Trunks, Giru, Pan) is that they get along TOO well. In every saga in Z, either Vegeta or Piccolo added some conflict to the "good guys." There was none of that in GT. This pretty much guaranteed that the plots would be straightforward "Bad guy appears, kill bad guy." As opposed to Z, where there was the "Should we really trust Piccolo?", or "Vegeta screwed it up again!," which actually allowed for some character conflicts i.e. Krillin/Tien not trusting Piccolo but Gohan did, Trunks trying to earn Vegeta's respect despite being very different.
